Mock 'Mrs. Butterworths' with Agave
There is a lot of controversy about agave. It has a low glycemic index and this is why I use it when I eat pancakes or waffles (I can't eat maple syrup). Keep in mind, agave is high in calories, higher than maple syrup. Either way, agave and maple syrup are far better for you than the original Mrs. Butterworth's syrup.
½ cup agave
2 Tb butter or margarine, 1 tsp butter flavor if using margarine
1 tsp maple flavoring
½ tsp molasses
dash of salt
Place all ingredients in a small saucepan stirring together over very low heat.
